I'd rather run the other way than stay and see the smoke and who's still standing when it clears
Today I missed out on what was apparently the hottest day in the history of forever and instead used about two thousand tissues and coughed a lot. Whenever I get sick, I think about those magical people who haven't missed a day of school since kindergarten (there's one of them in my photo class) and I wonder how they do it and I chalk it up to pure magical powers. And that gets me thinking about magical powers and what power I'd have if I could pick any power, and then I decide that it definitely wouldn't be the power of never getting sick. I'd want to turn wilted flowers into balloons, or something equally as useless and crazy and weird. When I was younger I loved this movie starring the girl who played Matilda in "Matilda." It was called "The Balloon Farm", I think, and Matilda's neighbor was this slightly creepy old man who grew balloons on his farm behind these really high walls. One day Matilda snuck over the wall so she could see the balloons, and the man caught her, but it was okay because in the end he had everyone over to sell all the balloons. But then everyone in the town got mad at him for asking people to pay for the balloons. I don't really remember the outcome of it all, which I guess means I need to track it down and watch it again, but I think about it nearly every time I think about balloons.
God, my brain is weird.
